Model’s High Maintence to be Low Maintence

The small things I do that genuinely make a difference to my routine, which isn't too crazy or expensive

  1. Weekly Pres on Nails

I was an acrylic/gel girl before I mastered the technique with press-on nails. I give myself a manicure beforehand and apply the press-ons with glue, which only takes me around an hour to do. My nails usually last around 7-10 days now, and cost me around £2 a go. They look fresh, natural, and easy to remove without damage, so you can change styles often. Many celebrities, such as Ariana Grande and Chrissy Teigan have switched to the press-on nail side. I wear these for all my photoshoots, and often get compliments on how natural they look.

2. Weekly Hair Oil or Hair Mask (Alternate)

With modelling, I’m often exposed to more heat damage on my hair than ordinarily. The best ways I’ve found to combat this are by hair oiling or using a hair mask once a week, alternatively. You know the product is good when it’s almost empty and a refill is on the way! I swear by the small business The Hair Syrup for hair oils.

3. Pilates 1/2x a week

- Or some form of exercise/movement that you enjoy. I’ve currently been obsessed with Reformer Pilates - what I used to think was a social media fad before I tried it. Great for those who have injuries, are undergoing physio, or have joint-related health issues. It’s become a hobby, in a way, I had lost with the gym and weight lifting. When you enjoy an exercise, it doesn’t feel like a chore to do! I’m in the works on a blog post just dedicated to Reformer Pilates, so stay tuned!

4. Simple Daily Skincare Routine

I’ve found that sticking to a rotation of a few small, regular products has helped my skin far better than the days of my 10-step routine. Also, by not overcomplicating it, I stick to the routine better.

Morning:

  1. Hydrating Toner/Essence/Aloe Vera,

  2. Moisturiser & eye cream,

  3. Suncream,

  4. Lip Balm

    Evening:

    1. Double Cleanse

    2. Exfoliating toner 1x week, otherwise same hydrating toner/essence rotation

    3. Thicker Moisturiser/Cicaplast (slugging-ish) & eye cream

    4. Lip Blam

    5. Hand Cream

    6. Body Cream

I’ve been on and off using the NuFace mini (as photographed), a facial microcurrent device with a hefty pricetag, for around a year. In all honesty, I’ve not used it consistently enough to notice a big enough difference. I do enjoy using it when I have a morning with facial puffiness, as it can reduce that. As it’s my most expensive thing listed here, though, you can pass on this.

5. Heat protectant on hair whenever heat is applied!

A non-negotiable, and the cheap ones work just as well.

6. Sleep/bedtime routine -

  1. Skincare and listening to things before bed (audiobooks, YouTube, podcasts, etc). Giving my eyes a break.

  2. Reading before bed (Books, Subtack, Blogs/Articles)

  3. Red light on my phone (Obsessed, have been doing it every night for years). I find the blue light on screens keeps me awake, so this helps combat that.

  4. Around 8 hours of sleep - your body and brain need to rest!

7. Tinted suncream instead of foundation

My skin needs a break!

8. 2L of Water a day

Simple but effective!
